Shakespeare Reading Club: “Richard 111” Thursday, November 19 at 6:30 p.m. (Study Cove)
During our last discussion in Hagaman Library’s Free, All-Ages Shakespeare Reading Club Discussion Group, we asked ourselves following an examination of “Richard II,” what makes a King?
Now, on Thursday, November 19th at 6:30pm in the Study Cove, we’ll meet one of Shakespeare’s most notorious villains, Richard III for a different perspective: What makes a monster? And what happens when he gets a crown?
Brilliant, ruthless, and dangerously charming, Richard will stop at nothing to seize the English throne; he schemes, manipulates, and eliminates anyone standing in his way, all while letting the audience in on his plans. But how far can ambition take a man before his own crimes catch up with him?
Join us for a lively & FREE discussion of “Richard III,” a gripping tale of Medieval political intrigue, dark humor, unchecked ambition, and the dangerous pursuit of power. You don’t need any advanced degrees to dive into this drama: Come on down, share your thoughts, and discover why Shakespeare’s most infamous schemer still fascinates audiences centuries later.
Hagaman Library’s Free, All-Ages Shakespeare Reading Club Discussion Group is, you guessed it, free, open to readers of all ages, and no RSVP is required; for further information about Shakespeare or other Reference Department activities, please reach out to Chris, Hagaman Library’s aforementioned Reference & Local History Librarian, directly at chemingway@hagamanlibrary.org.
