Employment at Hagaman Library
Hagaman Memorial Library is an association library; it is a private, incorporated 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Therefore, library employees do not work for the Town of East Haven or come under the jurisdiction of the Civil Service Commission. They are not members of a union. Rather, employees work for the East Haven Public Library, Inc.
Hagaman Library promotes a policy of equal employment opportunities for all. All employment decisions are based on employment-related criteria such as skills, abilities, attitude and contribution to the library, so as to further the principles of equal employment.

- Bookkeeper & Administrative Assistant: Hagaman Library seeks a Part-Time Bookkeeper and Administrative Assistant to join our team! This is a position of increased trust and responsibility, encompassing both financial and administrative duties to manage the business operations of the library. Working both independently and with the Library Director, responsibilities include maintaining staff payroll and attendance records, payroll processing, monitoring and maintaining library finances, and assisting with other projects, as assigned. - Youth Services Librarian: Due to a staff retirement, Hagaman Library seeks a Full-Time Youth Services Librarian to join our team! This is a non-exempt, professional staff position, encompassing administrative duties and daily, hands-on public service. The Youth Services Librarian is responsible for planning and implementing programs, services, and outreach for families and children, birth through age 12, as well as curating a collection of fiction, nonfiction, audio visual, and physical materials for families and children. Requires extensive knowledge and experience with youth literature and youth programming, and comfort working with children.
