Poetry Appreciation Society Meeting: The Works of Mercy Otis Warren in Honor of America250-Tuesday, July 21 at 6:30 p.m. (Community room)

During Hagaman Memorial Library’s next meting of Poetry Appreciation Society, we’ll discuss the works of Mercy Otis Warren, prolific American Revolutionary writer, playwright, and the first female historian of the American Revolution in honor of America250.

No RSVP needed & open to lovers of poetry and history alike! Known as the “Conscience of the American Revolution,” before women could even vote, Mrs. Warren was anonymously writing scathing satirical plays to mock British tyrants, hosting top-secret patriot meetings with John and Abigail Adams, and fiercely campaigning for your individual rights to be protected by the Bill of Rights. As America’s first female historian, her sharp wit and bold defiance helped shape the very foundation of modern liberty.
