Hagaman’s Contemporary Book Club will read and discuss “James” by Percival Everett-Monday, August 18 at 3pm (Shoreline Trolley Museum)

Hagaman’s Contemporary Book Club will discuss James by Percival Everett, which reimagines The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn from Jim’s perspective. Jim, an enslaved Black man, escapes to avoid being sold and journeys down the Mississippi River with Huck Finn, highlighting Jim’s intelligence and humanity while exploring their complex relationship in the context of slavery.

The group meets every other month on the third Monday at 3:00 p.m. To join, contact Cynthia Gwiazda, Community Services Librarian, at: cgwiazda@hagamanlibrary.org. All are welcome!

Please note: This program is made possible by a generous donation of space from the Shoreline Trolley Museum, 17 River Street in East Haven.
