Teen Lounge

Every Friday, starts June 21st | 2:30 to 4:30 PM

Join us on Friday afternoons for something different every week, including video games, book discussions, and more! Open to teens age 12 to 18; drop-ins welcome.

 

EH Summer Gaming Academy

Every Wednesday, starting June 26th | 2:00 to 4:00 PM

Play board and card games to explore different concepts and work towards creating your own board game. We’ll also have special events including building a Rube Goldberg machine, exploring creative problem solving, and learning how to cartoon for game design. Open to kids and teens age 10 to 17; drop-ins welcome. This project is made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Connecticut State Library.

 

Tabletop Club

Every other Thursday starting June 27th | 5:30 to 7:30 PM

Are you a fan of Dungeons & Dragons? Join us for our Tabletop Club to play D&D – plus learn about world-building, running games as a Dungeon Master, and improving your roleplaying skills! All materials are provided; open to teens age 12 to 18. Drop-ins welcome.

 

Teen Crafting Club

Every Other Tuesday, starting July 2nd | 3:00 to 4:30 PM

Teen Advisory Group

Thursday, July 11th & August 1st | 5:30 to 7:30 PM

Help us make the library a better place for yourself & all teens! Discuss new library programs, vote on new books to add to our YA collection & more! All teens joining us will earn community service hours for their participation. Open to teens age 12 to 18; drop-ins welcome.

 

Teen Summer Reading Challenge

Monday, June 17th to Friday, August 9th

This summer, we’re challenging teens age 12 to 18 to read every day! Build good reading habits and complete fun challenges to earn raffle tickets for great prizes. Visit the teen room to pick-up your reading challenge log.

Finals Study Lounge

Looking for a quiet spot to study for finals? Drop in to the library! We’ll also have snacks and quiet destressing activities available when you’re ready to take a break. Open to teens age 12 to 18; drop-ins welcome.

 

EH Summer Gaming Academy – Mentor Info Session

Thursday, June 13th | 6:00 to 7:00 PM

We are looking for teens entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade in the fall who would be interested in helping out as mentors during our Summer Gaming Academy – you’ll earn community service for every week you help out! Join us for this info session to learn more about what our mentors will be doing and how you can get started. Open to teens entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade; drop-ins welcome.

 

End-of-School Party

Cozy Movie Night: Edward Scissorhands

Tuesday, June 18th | 5:30 to 7:30 PM

Bring your own blanket and get comfy for our screening of the 1990 fantasy/romance film Edward Scissorhands. Fresh Popcorn and other treats will be served! Open to teens age 12 to 18; drop-ins welcome.

 

Live-Action Game of Life

Echoes of Nature – Bilingual Haiku Worskhop

Tuesday, July 9th | 3:00 to 5:00 PM

The Haiku is a type of Japanese poem inspired by nature. Using the book “My Haikus Notebook” by the award-winning writer María José Ferrada as a support, participants will learn more about this unique lyrical genre while sharpening their gaze and writing their own haikus.
