The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is a comedic science fiction story about human Arthur Dent, who is saved from Earth’s destruction by his alien friend, Ford Prefect. They embark on a journey through space, using the titular guide and encountering a cast of eccentric characters like the two-headed galactic president Zaphod Beeblebrox and a chronically depressed robot named Marvin. The narrative is a satire of modern life, bureaucracy, and the search for meaning, famously culminating in the answer “42” to the “ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything”
