Virtual Program: Celebrating Yule Traditions-Saturday, December 6 at 2:00 p.m.
Learn about Yule, the ancient winter festival celebration of the Winter Solstice. Learn about the history of the holiday and how to make a “wishing” pinecone.
All you will need is:
1 pinecone
Paper and pen
Some twine or string
Optional: cinnamon essential oil
Pinecones (with strings) will be available to pick up at the library’s satellite location at the East Haven Senior Center on Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. and on Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. (with the exception of the 3rd Thursday of the month when we close at 6pm to make room for town meetings).
This program will be held over Zoom and is presented by Rachel Koladis. Rachel is The Replanted Witch. She studies folk practices and rituals related to her heritage, focusing primarily on the British Isles and Slavic traditions, but isn’t limited to them. Rachel currently offers a variety of classes related to witchcraft, crystals, herbalism, plant magic, fairies, vegan and ayurvedic cooking and yoga.
