The present building and materials were funded by a generous gift from Mr. Isaac Hagaman. It is believed that he was inspired by a gift of $1,000 made by his housekeeper, Mrs. Harriet Metcalf.

The spirit of giving continues today through a variety of programs:

1. Help us for free by purchasing books from Amazon. The library will get 6% of the purchase price of any books or other merchandise you buy.  For the library to get the 6%, you must follow this link: www.wowbrary.org/easthaven.
2. Adopt An Author: Adopt your favorite author(s) and be the first to borrow new books (and have them longer!)
3. Give a book to the library in honor of a special occasion: Birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, weddings, memorials are all appropriate occasions for commemorating with a book.
4. Join the Friends: This vibrant group is the lifeblood of special programs. Fundraisers held throughout the year include a fashion show, whist party, bake sales, book sale and more.
5. Carolyn’s Garden: donations accepted in memory of Miss Carolyn Siedzik, children’s librarian from 1967-1973 and 1981-2008. Donations will be used to maintain the garden and fund special programs.
6. Give us your gently read books-we will use them to refresh our collection or sell them in our Friends corner to raise money for the library.
7. Donations of any amount are always accepted through paypal (click on link in the sidebar on the right.)

Support Our DeMayo Community Room By Sharing in The Tree of Knowledge!

The library’s new DeMayo community room opened in the fall of 2012. Its construction was supported by special gifts to the library including those from Eileen and Anthony DeMayo and the Mary McHardy Trust fund.

The DeMayo community room includes a small kitchen and is handicapped-accessible.

The Hagaman Memorial Library invites citizens, families and businesses in East Haven to participate in our Tree of Knowledge to help support special furnishings for the DeMayo community room and for support of library programs and events.

With leaves crafted in bronze, the Tree of Knowledge will be a permanent symbol dedicated to the intellectual, cultural and social lives of the people who love our library.

The Tree of Knowledge will remain in the DeMayo community room as a lasting and permanent tribute to those whose names are engraved.

The Tree of Knowledge is a very special way to remember a family member or co-worker who has had a deep love for the library. It is appropriate for commemorating birthdays, weddings, memorials, births or adoptions. Please click here to download the form to share in the Tree of Knowledge.
